Now you have selected one or more Personal Chefs from the Personal Chef Directory to interview. Here are some questions you should be asking.
1) Do you carry liability insurance? Your Personal Chef MUST carry liability insurance as a pre-requisite to membership with the Canadian Personal Chef Alliance. This insurance will cover sickness and property damage.
2) Do you have your Personal Chef food safety certificate? The Canadian Personal Chef Alliance again demands that all its members have either the Alliance food handler's food safety certificate or recognized food handler certification from their municipality or Province.
3) Do you have references? All Personal Chefs will carry what is called a "Brag book" this book containes references, articles about the chef, certificates and diplomas, take your time and have a look through it. It will give you an idea of what your Personal Chef has done!
When the interview is conducted, the Personal Chef will carry a form that asks all the relevant questions he/she will need to know in order to look after you properly. This form will cover everything from your particular likes and dislikes to security arrangements. At the same time your Personal Chef should leave you an information package that has relevant information regarding things like pricing, menus, (regular and seasonal depending on what the chef offers) and any current flyers they may have.
Should you decide to go ahead and book a "Chef date" with your Personal Chef, you will likely be given the option of how to communicate your selection of entrees. What does that mean? Well it is likely that you will get a "Chef date" in a couple of weeks, which gives you ample time to make your selection. Take your time. Generally most personal chefs have menus consisting of more than 100 items on them. It may be a little overwhelming, so look it over carefully and make your selections at your own leisure! |
